On this week’s episode of The Legend of Retro, the sweet, family friendly IP takes a dark turn and gets violent and starts swearing. And the game they cover does too! Be warned: there is an explicit tag on this episode as the guys let loose in the penultimate episode of the podcast. If you listen with kids, be sure to let them know how lucky they are to be listening to such mature content!
Let’s take a trip to the past with some of your favorite retro game podcast hosts, as Chops and Craig_WK jump into the Epoch and take a trip to 1995! They look into the history of the game, the brilliant collaboration of the dream team of Japanese style role playing games, as well as the amazing music. That description might be bland, but we can always re-do it with a New Game Plus! To finish off the episode, the dynamic duo talk about a Retro Relapse that was too hot to handle in a previous episode. We hope you enjoy hearing about the greatest JRPG of all time!
One day, quite by accident, a gate to The Legend of Retro was opened by a gang of podcasters skilled in the black arts. This land was like no other. In the gathering twilight, the episode shone from its resting place high above the world. In a long running battle, the leader of the podcasters fought his way past his followers Xander and The Glitch in lust for the episode on Link to the Past. After vanquishing his own followers, the leader stood triumphant over the episode and grasped it with his blood-stained hands. He heard a whispered voice: “If thou hast a strong desire or dream, wish for it…” And in reply, the roaring laughter of the host echoed across time and space and even reached the far-off listeners. The name of this king of podcasters is Craig_WK, but he is known by his alias Mandrag Craig, which means Craig of the Legend of Retro.
Having just made it back onto the streets of Legend of Retro after a long stretch on the inside, TheGlitch is sent to Vice City by his old Boss, Craig_WK. But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. TheGlitch is set up and loses everything. Craig wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want TheGlitch dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself. Oh, and Xander’s here too.
On this week’s episode of The Legend of Retro, Craig_WK and Xander finally bring you the follow up to the EarthBound part 1 episode released all those years ago. What? This isn’t that? They already did that last week? What else could this possibly be then…? Perhaps the only other game of the Mother series that they haven’t covered!? This episode has some spoilers, though the hosts will give you a warning when they do! For the Retro Relapse, Xander plays the game in the middle of the episode! Really, he does! Maybe! Perhaps!
On this week’s episode of The Legend of Retro, Craig_WK and Xander finally bring you the follow up to the Earthbound Part 1 episode released all those years ago. Wait, really? This is actually it? It isn’t another game from the Mother series? Hot dang! Today, the dynamic duo bring you a game they can’t recommend enough! With all this focus on their favorite game of all time, there’s no time for any other segments! Enjoy this spoiler filled episode that’s nearly four years in the making!
Like clockwork, it’s that time of the season to give our fans a chance to prove how terrible we are at choosing songs for our brackets by letting THEM pick the songs. Enjoy this fan filled episode where Chops, Xander, Craig, Glitch, and special guest DaBrutishOne decide the fate of our fans picks as the songs go head to head. Who will be crowned champion of this season? Listen to find out.

Welcome stranger to this week’s episode of The Legend of Retro. Chops, Xander, the Glitch, and guest Danielle go over a game that improved an already fantastic series while simultaneously making you never want to play an escort mission ever again. For the relapse, they do their best to hibernate for the winter, then it’s off to the last match-up in our Mega Man bracket before the finals. Thanks for listening and come back anytime!
On this week's episode of The Legend of Retro, Craig WK and Xander put up their quarters and try to look like they know what their doing as they reminisce about Street Fighter II. Who are their favorite fighters? How did one glitch change the fighting game landscape? Who loves cooking pasta dishes? Find out in this Fei Long... er... very long episode! Gonna burn some muscle!
It’s time for Chops to face himself, as he gets wrapped up in a murder mystery where CraigWK probably isn’t the killer, maybe! After crawling out of a world within a department store television, the duo have a Retro Relapse that sends them into another strange pseudo-virtual world. To wrap up the episode, Chops and Craig_WK take a trip into the future for the music bracket.
Naked Chops and Big Boss Craig W.K. are dropped deep into the forest on enemy soil to stop a nuclear attack from ravaging the United States. Will they be able to stop this atrocity from happening, or will they eat too many tree frogs and pass out from psychotropic’s? Listen to this weeks episode to find out if they succeed in their mission and don’t forget to vote in the Mega Man Robot Masters music bracket…Chops?..Chops?!….CHOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPSSSSS!!!
In this weeks episode, the Glitch unseals a (seemingly,) friendly demon named Craig_WK who freezes the other hosts and sets the Glitch off on an adventure to recreate the world of podcasting! Listen in, as the duo talk about a Super Nintendo game that never found its way to North America. For the Retro Relapse, the Glitch decided that Craig_WK needed to take a trip: but what horrifying things will he see on his journey? To finish off the episode, the two hosts need to take a trip into the future!
Glitch busts out his list of cheat codes to unlock Craig_WK as they chat about Age of Empires for the PC. Together, they talk about their favorite campaigns, the best characters, and how you should just avoid the Multiplayer mode. The retro relapse is a call back to a previous episode…but they soon realize it was better in their hearts when they hadn’t played it…and then they finish the episode off with the continuation of the Mega Man Music Bracket.
After finally making their way through electrified seaweed infested water, Xander and the Glitch chat about the very difficult Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES. Though Xander believes no single human being has ever completed this game (no matter how many speedrunning stats the Glitch throws at him), one thing is for sure, the music is amazing. In the Retro Relapse, the guys play some basketball and test their rap knowledge. Then, Needle Man goes up against Needle Man as our Mega Man Music Bracket continues.
Xander and the Glitch relive their favorite puzzle game (over and over) as they discuss Braid for the Xbox Live Arcade. Find out what makes this game so special. Was it the gameplay? The story? The amazing ending? For retro relapse, the Glitch forces Xander to play a game he has been avoiding his entire life, and the Mega Man Robot Music Bracket continues with what might be the toughest match-up in round 2. oɿɈǝЯ ʇo bnǝϱǝ⅃ ƨʞǝǝw ƨiʜɈ no ˎǝɿom bnɒ ˎƨiʜɈ llA
On this week’s episode of The Legend of Retro, Xander and TheGlitch are joined by Dale (AKA a20sidedninja) from the Super OK Podcast to talk about Super Metroid. Is this a perfect game? Is Screw Attack the greatest item? How do you pronounce Samus Aran? Retro Relapse is a little fishy (though not for long), and as always we check in on the Robot Master Stage Theme bracket. Full disclosure, this episode was recorded well over a month before you’re hearing it and Xander has played a ton of Super Metroid since then and probably would have been better suited to host this episode now than he was last month. What a dweeb.
Yrarrgh ya land lubbers. Pirate kings Chopsbeard, Craig the Terrible and LPJ the Pretty spin a tale of The Secrets of Monkey Island! Listen at your own risk as they recount the tales of the game based on real pirate history and rate this weeks Music Bracket. If you don’t like what ya hear, then you’ll be headin to Dave Jones locker!
Today, we kill two Blue Bomber birds with one Rockman by chatting about the greatest Mega Man games of all time; Mega Man 2 & 3. We discuss the origin of the games, the differences between the two, and the obnoxious box art we got in North America. For the retro relapse, the Glitch makes the gang suffer by form of MS DOS, and the Robot Master Music Bracket continues with the brackets top underdog tring to “shock” the competition. Can Chops Man save the day? Or will Dr. WK destroy the world? Find out on this weeks Legend of Retro.

From the Legend of Retro stage comes the performance of Super Mario Bros 3! Starring: As Bowser, Craig W.K., Green Mario played by Xander, the Glitch as Princess Peach, and Chops in the role of Mario! Make sure to silence your cell phone and grab your snacks as we dive into this classic Nintendo game. As always, the performers will take a brief intermission to discuss this weeks Mega Man Music bracket.
After one night of intense Tabletop Roleplaying, Chops finds a strange red gem on the ground and soon becomes the Legend of Retro Dragoon! Together with fellow Dragoon Craig W.K., they now fight crime as protectors of Earth while still recording podcasts and talking only about Mega Man music for the foreseeable future.
Welcome to The Legend of Retro, the podcast where we don’t think this whole audio thing is going to pan out, so we’re just going to sit in silence for an hour! …If we change our minds and decide sound is where it’s at, will it be too late for Craig_WK and the Glitch? After, the duo goes back in time for a Retro Rewind for a subject near and dear to the host’s hearts: grocery prices? To finish off the episode, we move on to our music bracket and is it Needle Man? Could it be Needle Man?? But what about Needle Man???
Shreddin!!!! This week, Glitch invites Craig_WK to the snowy mountain top to check out Cool Boarders 2 for the PlayStation. Whether it’s the gnarly music, killer trick sets, or wicked board creator, they cover it all. Next, they don’t have to travel far to “wreck” themselves in the retro relapse, and things get chilly as they count themselves to sleep in the Mega Man Robot Music Bracket. Will the guys stick the landing, or will they bail on the slopes? Find out on this weeks Legend of Retro.
After receiving a letter from the King, Craig_WK and the Glitch unite to recover a copy of the rare game that is Little Samson on the NES. The guys discuss how a team of ex-Capcom employees put together a game that looks and sounds awfully familiar. Also, what makes this game so rare? For the Retro Relapse, we try our best to keep our hats on, and things get cold and solid in the Mega Man Robot Music Bracket.
It’s the return of the Legend of Retro. The boys are back. LPJ, Hovercraft Joe, and Jody get funky with the most unique game released in the 16 bit era. They’ll dig into the happenstance beginnings, miraculous development, and incredible soundtrack that made this a cult classic masterpiece. Then, Retro Relapse takes us back into the arcade with, perhaps, the largest beat-em-up cabinet of all-time. Finally, a new season means a new music bracket. And this one is out of this world. Game On!
