A New Dragon Quest Monsters Game Is Coming!
It was recently announced at a special live stream to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dragon Quest Monsters, that a new game in the series was being worked on. However, unlike the Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker series, this new game wouldn't star an original character, and would instead feature characters from Dragon Quest XI.
The Dragon Quest Monster series was heavily inspired by Pokemon, and features a character collecting and raising monsters from the Dragon Quest universe. Unlike Pokemon, which has players leveling and evolving their monsters, in DQM, the premise is that you can combine your monsters together, to make new forms, even resulting in making the final bosses of previous main line Dragon Quest games.
Despite being a Pokemon clone, there are certainly other differences, such as having up to three monsters battle at once, rather than having matches be one on one. A huge advantage that Dragon Quest Monsters has over Pokemon, is the art by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame. The art in Pokemon might be nice, but it's no match for the master's work.
While there isn't much news on this new Dragon Quest Monsters, it seems possible that the game could be on the Nintendo Switch, as most Dragon Quest Monsters games have appeared on Nintendo platforms.
