Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pro Controller Is A Disappointment
Nintendo just announced their next special edition of the Switch Pro Controller. It was pretty obvious that it was going to be focused around Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I was pretty excited to see the design, as this is the first special edition of the pro controller I was interested in; plus with all the cool custom pro controllers and Joy cons that have been showing up from independent artists, I have been waiting to see how Nintendo would respond.
The new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pro controller is one of the ugliest controllers I have ever seen. This controller screams lazy and cash grab with its lackadaisical art design. Nintendo has one of their biggest franchises about to launch a new game and they release this uninspiring pile of trash as a premium product?
Nintendo has not officially released a price for the controller, but we are already seeing preorders going up on Best Buy and GameStop for $75! Wait, you are charging us $5 for a few drops of extra paint? You can also get this in a bundle with the game for $140, with an equally ugly steel case. When you compare this to even the Splatoon 2 pro controller, a controller I was also disappointed in, the new SSB controller is a joke. What happened to the Nintendo of old that brought us fun colors like atomic purple controllers and creative special edition systems and peripherals?
